Raving about: Shakes
OK, so I’m doing this insane shake thing. If you can eat fast food for 3 months and not die, I think you can drink protein shakes for a month and not die. I’ve talked with several people that are using these in the beginning stages of their weight loss, or as an on-the-go alternative to eating fast food. It will definately hold you over until to can get home and eat quality food.
Update – 08/06/2010: I am having hormone issues and the shakes did not work for me, however, my hubby has a great story I would like to share on this. May 6 2010, at the DR, his weight was still 243lbs. Cholesterol 256. DR told him 3 more month of hubby trying to lose and DR was putting him on high cholesterol meds. He made a half-hearted attempt, but no real progress. Then in June he started doing the crazy shake diet with me.
He removed all bread, pasta and potatoes from his diet. Drank 2 adkins protein shakes per day and ate 3 4oz chicken or beef meals throughout the day. He did a little cheating with popcorn, diet soda and an occasional bag of trail mix w/raisins. Aside from that, he did well. Due to a back injury he had to stop bike-riding for a few weeks. Then he resumed 2X a week, one slow short ride & one longer harder ride.
August 05 2010 – DR visit, his weight is down to 209lbs AND his cholesterol is at 218!!
This means no cholesterol meds for him!!! Yea!!!
I’m using Adkins, EAS Carb Control and Muscle Milk Lite.
EAS AdvantageEDGE Carb Control – 17 grams of protein and 1 or 2 grams of carbs.
This brand is my favorite because it only has 110cal.
They have a Cafe Caramel with a bit of caffeine too.
Same info, good taste, no bloat. Tried all the flavors, like them a lot.

Muscle Milk Light – 14 – 20 grams of protein and 1 or 2 grams of carbs.
This brand is good because it is lactose free and only 100cal.
Haven’t figured out why it’s not my favorite yet.
Good flavors, no Cafe-style ones.
I’m going to see if my preference is based on what we are buying or a preference to the EAS.

Adkins – 15 grams of protein and only 2 grams carbohydrates.
Taste is good, and no bloating.
Only downside, 160cal, the others all had 110cal.
They have 2, Cafe Caramel & Mocha Latte that have some caffeine for a good little pick-me-up. Tried all flavors, they have several. I like them all.

All of these shakes have vitamins and minerals. So far, it’s going well.
